William Crowley, of Kilmihil, Co. Clare. Hunger Striker

Posted By admin on April 13, 2011

Trying to find info on my grandfather, William Crowley, of Kilmihil, Co. Clare.  He was involved and did a 29-day huger strike after capture sometime after 1920?  He was deported to the US in 1926 or 1927.  Any information would be grand.

William – Don’t know any specifics but if you read this story right through (on this website) it will tell you what happened to so many men arrested, circa 13,000 and many of them went on hunger strikes.

    William -
I have information on a Patrick and Michael Crowley who were interned in Wormwood Scrubs in April-May 1920 and on “hunger strike” but no address. Could there be any connection ? -let me know if you want further.

    Hi There,
I have a significant number of Crowley relatives in Kilmihil, Co. Clare. Do you know who William’s parents were? Their names? My gr. grandfather was Thomas Crowley (b 11/22/1852); he had brother William Crowley b. 1873 in Clonakilla, Kilmihil, wife Norah Blackhall. Both buried in Kilmihil graveyard. If you have any further relatives that you know of, let me know and I’ll see if I have any matches. Anna
